A framework of trust for mastering the whole system
Koperateur is building a framework designed to make the conditions for mastering a digital system verifiable, from design through operation. The current work focuses on criteria, expected evidence and governance.
ExpertCyber recognises service providers’ expertise in IT security, maintenance and support. It is awarded by Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr following an audit performed by AFNOR Certification.
Koperateur works within this recognised foundation. Its developing framework addresses a complementary purpose: connecting the requirements needed to understand, operate, evolve and take over a digital system over time.
Connect requirements across every layer
Critical situations cannot be reduced to a single technical layer. The proposed framework connects decisions, dependencies and operating conditions that determine effective control of the system.
Mastery
Know the state of the system, its dependencies, its owners and the decisions that drive its evolution.
Security
Address security across architecture, code, access, delivery and operations.
Reversibility
Preserve a realistic exit path across technical, contractual and supplier choices.
Documentation
Retain the knowledge required to understand, operate and take over the system.
Sovereignty
Make the jurisdictions, dependencies and decision margins surrounding the system explicit.
Operations
Verify that the system can be observed, maintained and restored under real operating conditions.
Test the framework before opening it
A useful framework must produce understandable criteria, controllable evidence and traceable decisions. Its development therefore proceeds in stages.
-
Frame
Define the purpose and limits of the framework and the systems to which it may apply.
-
Define
Set the scope, criteria and evidence expected.
-
Test
Confront the framework with real operational situations and constraints.
-
Govern
Set decision, review and withdrawal rules before any opening.
Keep commitments verifiable over time
The future framework will be useful only if it clearly distinguishes what is declared, what is observed and what must be corrected.
An explicit scope
Each assessment will need to identify the system, stakeholders, dependencies and period concerned.
Proportionate evidence
Claims will need to be tied to observable, dated and understandable evidence.
Ongoing control
Compliance at one point in time will need to be considered alongside maintenance and recovery conditions.
A revisable framework
Gaps, context changes and limitations will need to trigger corrective action or a new assessment.
Help build a useful framework
Do you operate a highly constrained system and want to share a need, limitation or use case that the framework should address?
